Oman - Waterboxx

Oman’s Three Pillars Consulting company retained the service of CCC to develop Oman’s first ever CDM forestry project titled “Social and Environmental Reforestation Cooperation in the Middle East”. Objectives of this project are to restore degraded lands, promote tree growth and increase the tree coverage in desert areas, and do so by using as little water as possible over the plant's entire life-cycle. The project is using a unique tree-planting device called the Waterboxx (Developed by Groasis LLC) that protects the young saplings from harsh desert environment. The device is designed to condition the plant's taproot to find natural sources of ground-humidity and water. The PDD and the Monitoring report are in the process of development.

This project aims to distribute 50,000 energy-efficient cookstoves in three targeted provinces - Vientiane (capital), Savannakhet, and Champasack. These energy efficient cookstoves that use biomass pellets significantly reduce the emissions and household pollution. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) will partner with a private sector company to implement the project. The project aims at registering under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and use the carbon credits to increase the affordability of the cookstoves, cover after-sales service, and raise awareness to support the local market. CCC provided the technical consultation on the CDM registration and local capacity building of the project. ​

Lao PDR Clean Cookstove

An area of 400 hectares of degraded lands are restored using forest species and is being developed as a forest carbon project that will be registered under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). CCC worked on the  finalizing of  the VCS Project Description (PD) after a successful feasibility assessment that proved the viability of the project. 

Vientiane  - Forest Carbon

This rubber based agro-forestry project was developed according to a pioneering social and economic model that ensures sustainable development to the rural communities without adverse impact on the land ownership. CCC prepared the documentation for the 2nd verification of 51,882 Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) in 2019. CCC also assisted the client during the verification visit by 3rd party auditors. The documents include the Monitoring Report, Non-Permanence Risk Assessment Report.

Lao - PDR - Agroforestry

CCC conducted an assessment of the carbon potential of an area of 37,818 hectares in the Desa’a forest in Tigray region. Objective of the project is to establish and maintain a sustainably managed forest and conserve the existing forests through active participation of the local communities for carbon sequestration, poverty reduction.

Ethiopia

CCC worked with the Sri Lanka Rubber Research Institute (RRISL) in  developing the country’s first forest carbon project to be registered under the Verified Carbon Standard. The project aims at cultivating 3000 hectares of rubber on non-traditional lands with the active participation of the local communities. This sustainable agro-forestry model will provide the local farmers with an additional income to sustain their livelihood.
